Flight controllers in Maryland reset Webb’s solar panel to draw more power and repointed the telescope to restrict sunlight on six overheating motors. Officials said the motors cooled enough to start securing the sunshield, but the process could be stopped if the problems resurface. “Everything is hunky-dory and doing well now,” Amy Lo, a lead engineer for the telescope’s main contractor, Northrop Grumman, said. Lo said there was never any danger to the telescope, deemed to be the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, with a sustained power source....

As of right now, Denny Hamlin (2nd), Kyle Busch (3rd) and Joey Logano (4th) are in position to race in the championship in two weeks. All three of these men are in great position to earn a spot with a victory at the 1.5-mile intermediate track in Texas this week. Busch is a great intermediate racer and obviously one of the most talented drivers in the game while Hamlin (who already won at Texas this year) and Logano have a lot of success on tracks such as this as well....

Ontario County (N.Y.) District Attorney Mike Tantillo announced Tuesday that he would take Stewart’s case over the death of sprint-car racer Kevin Ward Jr. to a grand jury. Stewart’s car struck and killed the 20-year-old Ward, who had walked onto the track and approached Stewart’s car as he drove under caution during an Empire Super Sprints race Aug. 9 at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. The three-time Cup champion has pledged his cooperation....
The final race of the Cup Series regular season had already been postponed from Saturday night to Sunday morning, and the rain began to come out late as drivers tried to make the final push to the playoffs. The rain started to come down, and as it did, the front of the field spun out as it lost traction on the wet tracks. Then, the red flag was brought out....
Which moment? The 50 Cent attempted kiss of Fox's Erin Andrews. Andrews was roaming the pit area before the Daytona 500 when she saw the rapper. As Andrews approached for an on-air interview, 50 Cent leaned in to give her a kiss. She couldn't avoid it but it certainly was the most awkward moment of the day. NASCAR pounced on that awkwardness and produced a video with drivers "talking" about the incident....
