Winston Ortiz died after the attack on the fifth floor of an apartment building on Woodycrest Avenue in the Highbridge area of the Bronx, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to Newsweek. A man, inspired by Islamic State ideology, entered a Countdown supermarket in Lynn Mall, New Lynn, Auckland, on Friday and stabbed and wounded at least six people. Police shot and killed the suspect within 60 seconds of starting the attack, Ardern said. News editor Gavin Stone of the Richmond County Daily Journal was already sentenced to five days in jail by North Carolina Superior Court Judge Stephan Futrell last month for criminal contempt of court after reporter Matthew Sasser brought a recorder into court on June 21 and 22, according to the Associated Press. Stone was released the next day and Sasser was fined $500 for criminal contempt of court. However, Futrell has dismissed the original penalties and is handing Stone and Sasser over to an appeals court to decide if both should pay $500 and spend up to 30 days in prison....

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday and first reported by Religion News Service, claims that Jang, his key disciples and the entities they control owe Newsweek more than $30 million. Jang ordered the destruction of electronic records that would support some of these claims, the lawsuit alleges.
