In fact, all four teams opening the season Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in the annual Champions Classic are included: Duke (guard Tre Jones and forward Vernon Carey); Kansas (guard Devon Dotson and center Udoka Azubuike); Kentucky (guards Ashton Hagans and Tyrese Maxey) and Michigan State (forward Xavier Tillman and guard Cassius Winston).

But one of those teams you might need quite a while to guess: the Davidson Wildcats.

Davidson finished last season 24-10, 14-4 and second place in the Atlantic 10 Conference and appeared in the NIT. Guard Kellan Grady averaged 17.3 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Wildcats. Guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson averaged 16.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

They were included among the 50 players on the watch list, along with such established stars as Markus Howard of Marquette, Myles Powell of Seton Hall and reigning American Athletic Conference Player of the Year Jarron Cumberland of Cincinnati. All 15 members of the Sporting News preseason All-America team were included.

Gudmundsson was top 10 in the A-10 in the three statistical categories and shot 46 percent from the field. Grady already is a 1,100-point scorer after two seasons with the Wildcats and has started 62 of 63 career games. He averaged 18 points for Davidson when they reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament and lost a close first-round game to Kentucky.

The other teams with multiple players on the Davidson list were Sporting News preseason No. 4 selection Florida (forward Kerry Blackshear and guard Andrew Nembhard) and No. 13 Maryland (guard Anthony Cowen and forward Jalen Smith).
