NASCAR had to postpone last weekend’s race and stage a rare Monday running for its Sprint Cup Series. Kurt Busch didn’t mind, since he won for the first time this season.

Summer in Michigan can be interesting, and this week should see temperatures increase 15 to 20 degrees over Wednesday’s comfortable high of 69. Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend. The only hitch will be a passing front or two bringing rain.

Once again, 40 cars are in the field. Sunday’s race, the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, should go off about 1:15 p.m. ET.

Kurt Busch won last June’s race. Matt Kenseth won in mid-August. By the way, that June race was stopped after 138 of a scheduled 200 laps. Reason? Rain.
