According to Britannica, the North American variations of the cheesecake, including New York style, use cream cheese in the filling and a crispy crust made from graham cracker or cookie crumbs. This is compared to the thick, creamy filling of cheese, eggs, and sugar over a thinner crust across the world.

Interestingly, there isn’t a single method to make cheesecake. Some bake the cake while others only refrigerate it.

If you’re looking for a new slice of life, head on over to the Cheesecake Factory, which is selling any slice of the delicious dessert for half price. Dine-in guests can choose any slice of its more than 30 legendary flavors of cheesecake for 50 percent off, the company told Newsweek.

The Cheesecake Factory will also introduce its newest flavor on National Cheesecake Day—Pineapple Upside-Down Cheesecake. A twist on another classic, this cheesecake will include creamy pineapple with maraschino cherry swirl between two layers of moist buttery pineapple upside-down cake.

Also, for every slice of Pineapple Upside-Down Cheesecake sold through to February 2020, The Cheesecake Factory will donate 25 cents to Feeding America, the company told Newsweek. The organization is the largest dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a network of food banks and in 2008, the company donated over $4.6 million to Feeding America through the sale of its specially designated cheesecakes.

“National Cheesecake Day has become an annual tradition at The Cheesecake Factory that we look forward to celebrating all year,” says David Overton, founder and CEO, The Cheesecake Factory Inc. “Along with offering any slice, half price to our dine-in guests, we are so pleased to mark the occasion by introducing our new Pineapple Upside-Down Cheesecake on National Cheesecake Day.”
