Decisions made from the replay center will include: whether a field goal was a 2- or 3-point attempt, end-of-quarter made field goals, out-of-bounds calls, goaltending, potential shot-clock violations and the number of players on the court.

“Many instances in our 15 instant-replay triggers are very straightforward and do not need the involvement of the on-court game officials to accurately determine the result,” Kiki Vandeweghe, the NBA’s executive vice president for basketball operations, said in a news release. “Flow of game is crucial to basketball so a quicker result will help our players and coaches return to action faster.”

The on-court officials will make final determinations in other instances, mostly foul determinations, and will be responsible for triggering replays.
