NCT’s Johnny, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo Injured on Set—Read Full Statement

SM Entertainment released a statement on Friday via KWANGYA CLUB, the official fan club service for the label’s artists, and, it was reported, they confirmed that Johnny, Jaehyun and Jungwoo had been injured when the jungle gym collapsed.

The three K-Pop stars were then transferred to hospital and the record label confirmed that they are currently being treated for their injuries.

It was also reported that a fourth member, Taeil, had fallen but he was uninjured and has since been released from the hospital.

SM Entertainment’s statement also confirmed that because of his injuries Jungwoo would be unable to fulfill his obligations as an MC of MBC’s Show! Music Core and would be absent from the show’s recording on Saturday, December 10.

Per Koreaboo, SM Entertainment’s full statement read: “Hello. We are relaying news regarding NCT’s Johnny, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo’s injuries.

“On Friday, Johnny, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo suffered injuries due to the set’s jungle gym collapsing. The members were transferred to the hospital immediately and are currently receiving treatment and examinations but will need to be examined further.

“Due to this, Jungwoo will miss the December 10 filming of MBC’s Show! Music Core. Further changes in members’ schedules related to this incident will be released in a future statement.

“We would like to relay our apologies for the sudden news and state that we will do our best to treat our artists and aid in their recovery.”

Newsweek has contacted SM Entertainment for further comment.

While it was confirmed that the three NCT members had gotten injured on set of a commercial, it was not clarified by SM Entertainment which company they had been making the advertisement for.

NCT debuted under SM Entertainment in 2016, and the boy band currently has a total of 23 members that are part of four sub-units: NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream and WayV.

Johnny, Jungwoo and Jaehyun are part of NCT 127. Jaehyun debuted with NCT U in April 2016 and later joined NCT 127 in July alongside Johnny, and Jungwoo made his debut with NCT 127 in 2018.

Other members of the group include Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Winwin, Mark, Haechan, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, Jisung, Kun, Ten, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang.

In August 2021, Lucas went on hiatus after he was accused of cheating, at the time he published a handwritten letter on Instagram in which he apologized to “those who were hurt by my wrong behaviour.” He has been absent from NCT promotions since then.
