The animal cruelty charges involve the death of one of Cody’s dogs, an $8,000 bull mastiff from Spain, and an alligator.
Cody’s agent, Peter Schaffer, recently denied his client’s guilt. Schaffer told FOX Sports that Cody’s dog died of worms and that there was no animal cruelty. Schaffer also told The Baltimore Sun that Cody took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment and that the dog eventually died.
Cody, 26, was selected by the Ravens as a second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. In 57 games, he has 87 tackles and two passes defended with no career sacks. He played in just one game during the 2014 season and was set to become a free agent in March.
