But on Monday it was announced that University Arena, the official name of “The Pit” would be getting a new name, one that doesn’t exactly illicit fear.

WisePies Pizza & Salads donated $5 million to the university, the largest cash gift ever received by the athletics department, in order to secure the naming rights for the next ten years. The arena will be known as “WisePies Arena.”

Goodbye “The Pit,” hello “The Pie.”

Nope. It’s just not the same.
