The Galar region is set to be home to many new Pokémon species as well as Galrian forms of older generation Pokémon, but there two possible new ones. One has to deal with the confirmed bird Pokémon, Cramorant, and the other takes some good eyes.
First, the more obvious hidden Pokémon. In fact, this Pokémon isn’t really hidden at all but a part of Cramorant’s unique ability and gimmick. Gulp Missile allows Cramorant to pick up a fish in its mouth when using the moves Surf or Dive.
This fish is then launched at any Pokémon that damages Cramorant. While this may not seem like anything spectacular, that fish is likely a new Pokémon.
The Pokémon world is filled with different species, but there has never been a case where a real-life animal appears in a Pokémon game. Every fish is a Pokémon, every bird is actually a Pokémon, so why wouldn’t this fish be something new?
A good example is Mantine and Remoraid. Below Mantine’s wing, is a Remoraid that attaches itself to the Water and Flying-type Pokémon to scavenge food. Relationships between Pokémon in the wild is very common, so that fish in Cramorant’s mouth may be something further uncovered in a future Sword and Shield trailer.
Besides, that “Affleck leak” that correctly predicted Cramorant called the fish a barracuda. Here’s the line from the now-infamous leak: “The best Pokémon so far is the blue seagull who, when it dives, either gets a barracuda in its mouth or a Pikachu, which it launches at its enemy.”
The second hidden Pokémon comes from a quick shot of a port town in the Galar region. If one looks closely at the corner of the screenshot below there are two figures. They are in all black and have monstrous, stony shapes.
It’s not clear what these are, but there are no currently discovered Pokémon that look like these figures.
Could it be a new Galarian form, a new Pokémon or the evolved form of something we’ve already seen? Many fans are speculating that there will be some sort of Gargoyle Pokémon in the Galar region, and this could be that.
It could also be the evolved form of Impidimp, the Dark and Fairy-type Pokémon, but that’s all conjecture at this point.
With Sword and Shield releasing in two months, fans can expect more information in the coming weeks.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will release November 15 on Nintendo Switch.
