However, Saturday, January 1 is a national holiday widely observed by banks, post offices and couriers, leading to possible confusion over what is open for business on New Year’s Day.

Banks
Banks will not be opening their doors this New Year’s Day, according to Banks.org.
But although bank branches will not open for business, the majority of customers’ transaction needs can still be met via online banking services and ATMs, many of which allow physical cash deposits and withdrawals.
However, people are advised to complete any important transactions before January 1, for customers to avoid any potential financial issues.
And while many banks’ office will open their doors on Friday, December 31, please be advised opening and closing times can vary, so check with your local branch before New Yea’s Eve.

Customers can expect banks to resume regular opening hours from Monday, January 3, 2022.
Post Office
All United States Postal Service (USPS) locations will shut for business on New Year’s Day 2022, meaning mail will be not be collected from the blue collection boxes on Saturday, January 1.
But while regular mail will also be not delivered on New Year’s Day, the USPS site confirms all Priority Mail Express mail will be delivered.
All USPS branches and services will operate per usual on December 31, New Year’s Eve and normal hours and services will resume across all locations from Monday, January 3, 2022.
FedEx
According to its site, no FedEx services will be operating on New Year’s Day 2022, except for its Critical Service.
Most services will be available during normal business hours on Friday, December 31, except for FedEx Express, FedEx Freight and FedEx Office, which will be operating on modified hours.
All services will close on Sunday, January 2, except for FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx Office, which will also be operating on modified hours.
