Ohio State took a big lead and then held off the pesky Indiana Hoosiers, 42-35, to take control of the East Division. Northwestern beat Wisconsin, 17-7, for sole possession of first place in the West Division.

Although many games got canceled again because of positive COVID-19 tests, a lot of games did get played. Alabama had two weeks off before Saturday’s 63-3 pummeling of Kentucky, and the Crimson Tide remain No. 1 in the Newsweek Top 20 heading into week 13 of the season.

Notre Dame stays pat at No. 2 after a bye week and Ohio State remained at No. 3. Clemson had its game postponed at the last minute because of COVID, and the Tigers stay at No. 4. Texas A&M is once again No. 5 despite a second-straight week of COVID cancelations.

Florida played a rather close game against Vanderbilt, but the Gators prevailed and remain at No. 6. Cincinnati and BYU are seventh and eighth, respectively.

Oregon and Iowa State enter the top 10 in the final two spots. Oregon held off a late UCLA rally on Saturday while Iowa State thrashed Kansas State, 45-0, to take sole possession of the Big 12 race.

Northwestern vaulted from 20 to No. 11 after the Wildcats’ win over Wisconsin. USC remains perfect at 3-0, and the Trojans enter the rankings this week at No. 17.
