The NCAA Board of Directors voted 16-2 on Thursday to approve a historic package of changes that allows the five richest football conferences — the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC — to unilaterally change some of the rules that have applied to all Division I schools for years. The female Irrawaddy dolphin was found in the water on Tuesday this week by a fisher in the Camarines Sur province of the Philippines. Nonie Enolva, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the Philippines’ Bicol region, told Philippine news outlet Inquirer.net that the dolphin would have died due to drowning with the fishing net preventing it from reaching the surface for air. The loss of even one Irrawaddy dolphin may be a cause for concern for conservationists....

As the war rapidly approaches its one-year mark next month, the estimated death count of Russians keeps mounting higher by the week. So far, there have been more than 125,000 dead Russian soldiers since the war began in late February 2022. Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense posted Saturday that another 800 Russian soldiers had been killed the previous day, bringing that estimated total to 125,510 deaths. According to the ministry’s numbers, there have been 5,350 casualties within the last seven days....

An August study from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) found that the percentage of unvaccinated but willing individuals has decreased from 62% in April to 44% in July to August.
