The 87-year-old has been hospitalized at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for more than a week, a family source told CNN. His three sons have been unable to visit him because of protocols in place at the hospital. King, who hosted Larry King Live on CNN for 25 years, has suffered from numerous medical issues over the years, including a number of heart attacks and a diabetes diagnosis....

Last week, NASA celebrated the cosmic monsters with “Black Hole Week,” in which the agency released a new animation of their reality-bending effects. In a Q&A, Jeremy Schnittman, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, told Newsweek about some of the remaining mysteries of black holes, and what makes them so tantalizing for scientists. Six months ago, Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched four astronauts—Americans Mike Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker along with Soichi Noguchi, from Japan’s space agency—into space aboard a Crew Dragon capsule, named Resilience, on a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral in Florida. After a journey lasting over six hours, they returned this weekend in the same capsule, which parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Panama City, Florida at 2....

Surgery Follow-Up Nasal polyp surgery is an outpatient procedure, so you’ll be going home after you’ve recovered from anesthesia. This can take a couple of hours. During the surgery, your doctor will insert an endoscope (flexible, thin tube with a camera and light at the end of it) and tools, such as a microdebrider, through your nostrils to remove the polyps. Your doctor will schedule a follow-up visit most likely within the first week after surgery....

Bowman won Stage 1 of the race as he held the lead after 60 laps. Ryan Blaney won Stage 2 and was second for a large chunk of Stage 3 but was forced to make a pit stop with just a few laps left, opening the gap for Kyle Busch to finsih as the runner-up. The win locks Bowman into the NASCAR Playoffs, an elimination bracket-style postseason that takes place in the final 10 races of the season....

Rain and lightning in the Miami area led to some weather delays Sunday, but it also alleviated temperatures on what otherwise would have been a brutally hot day and night for drivers for the second straight week. Denny Hamlin, who had his crew chief Chris Gabehart back after a four-race suspension, cruised to victory Sunday at Homestead after stealing the lead from Chase Elliott in the closing laps. A late caution with six laps remaining in the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 brought forward that decision. Drivers mulled whether to go to pit road with overtime looming. Most of the field, including Byron, had not pitted in nearly 100 laps. Byron decided to stay out — as did the rest of the top five — and went to overtime on older tires. It was the right decision. Despite a late push by Joey Logano, Byron took the white flag as the leader and hung on for the win at Martinsville Speedway....

NASCAR red-flagged the race with William Byron leading. Byron, who entered the playoff race eighth in the standings, won the first stage. Dryers were brought out in an attempt to dry the track, but more rain was forecast, forcing the decision to postpone the event’s finish to Monday. The race will resume Monday at 2 p.m. ET ON NBCSN.

Hamlin had avoided damage throughout a chaotic race by hanging back, safely biding his time as much of the field crashed ahead of him. He was forced below the double yellow line while entering the final stretch as vehicles collided in his vicinity. DiBenedetto, no longer in the NASCAR playoffs, raced with the hope of securing his first career Cup Series victory and his NASCAR future. He became emotional during his postrace interview, unsure about his 2021 prospects....

Speaking on SiriusXM’s NASCAR channel Monday afternoon, France addressed the issue of the alliance, a group of nine Sprint Cup teams that recently announced they would work together to increase leverage of purchasing power for everything from common parts and pieces to travel. Rob Kauffman, the group’s chairman, has said that the group, if asked, also could serve as a voice of the owners in discussions with NASCAR. “When you hear ‘one voice,’ that would probably be the worst thing that we could ever do is to listen to one voice, even if it were a consensus voice,” France said on the “SiriusXM Speedway” show....

According to the SportsBusiness Journal, NASCAR is in contract negotiations with Comcast’s Xfinity to become the title sponsor of its No. 2 racing series. Nationwide’s contract is up after this season. Xfinity, the Comcast division that provides broadband, TV and phone service, is considering a five- to six-year deal valued at $100 million, according to SBJ’s Tripp Mickle. Xfinity would pay approximately $9 million in rights fees and $9 million in media activation in its first year, SBJ reported....

Ciccarelli, 50, has participated in 18 Truck Series races over the past four years, though none in 2020. He has finished in the top 10 once — a No. 9 placing at the Michigan International Speedway last year. “Well its been a fun ride and dream come true but if this is the direction Nascar is headed we will not participate after the 2020 season is over,” Ciccarelli announced in a Facebook post (all misspellings are his own)....

On Monday, Trump went after Wallace, NASCAR’s only Black driver, calling for him to apologize to fellow NASCAR drivers and officials for his part in what the president described, in all-caps as “just another HOAX.” In June, a member of Wallace’s team reported a noose hanging in Wallace’s garage at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. NASCAR officials condemned the noose, but a subsequent investigation by the FBI found that the knot wasn’t targeted at Wallace specifically, but had been in the garage since 2019....

The teams of drivers Greg Biffle, Casey Mears, Alex Kennedy and Brett Moffitt were all given warnings for going through inspection too many times. Qualifying took place Saturday night. Thirty-seven drivers were on the race entry list. They were divided into two groups after practice. Each racer made a single-lap run, and the drivers with the five fastest lap times in each group advanced to the final round of qualifying. We just keep digging and we never quit. Next thing you know I’m catching (Kyle Busch) for the lead....

Busch led 79 laps and came away with the win at the Pocono 400. Brad Keselowski followed Busch across the finish line while Erik Jones placed third. It was Busch’s 55th career cup series win and his fourth victory of the year. Kyle Larson was the winner of both Stage 1 and 2. He entered the race with just one stage win in 2019. Martin Truex Jr. struggled with engine troubles and completed just 91 laps....
