Brook Lopez's probable season-ending foot injury is just the latest setback in what's becoming a disaster of a season for Brooklyn. Nets GM Billy King is willing to make a deal to bring in help following the center's injury, but is in no rush to do so, ESPNNewYork.com reports. "If there's a deal out there that we feel is going to make us a better team, we'll do it regardless of tax or the future, but we're not going to panic and do a move just to make a move because we feel we have to," King said Sunday....

There has been a lot of discussion around the recent increased court time that the former two-time Finals MVP has been seeing, especially after Steve Nash addressed it a few days back. As Nash mentioned, the issue is the Nets don’t have a lot of other options if they want to win games. Take this game for example, Brooklyn needed Durant to log 40 minutes as he was the spark that fired their comeback....

While the DHS will allow for a public comment period on the suggested revisions starting June 15, immigration lawyers say the new changes, outlined in a 161-page document, represent a substantial change in current immigration law that will further President Donald Trump’s numerous steps towards ending asylum protections for immigrants seeking refuge in the United States. Among the changes, DHS officials and immigration judges will be allowed summarily dismiss claims made by entire groups of people, raising the standard of proof for asylum seekers and dismissing asylum proceedings before hearing in-person testimony from refugees in court....

Fifty percent of Americans surveyed by Fox News said Trump should be removed, with 44 percent responding “no” and 6 percent saying they are still undecided. The poll, conducted between January 19-22, shows essentially identical numbers from a month ago when the same question was asked. An additional 4 percent, 54 percent in total, said the president should be impeached but not removed from office in the poll released on December 19 – the day after the House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump....

Can labor take advantage of the economic slump? As the AFL-CIO kicks off its annual executive council meeting in sunny Bal Harbour, Fla., this week, the prospects are uncertain at best. The Teamsters received a lot of favorable press recently by electing reformist Ron Carey as their new president. But labor still continues to lose important court and public-relations battles. The Supreme Court recent restricted the right of unions to recruit on private property such as shopping malls; labor also seems unlikely to derail a much-feared free-trade agreement with Mexico....

News of the probe and its price tag come amid calls for police reform and transparency nationwide, including in New Jersey, where Acting State Police Superintendent Patrick J. Callahan has not received a confirmation hearing in three and a half years. The 10-year-old was ejected from an attraction at Deerfield Township Harvest Festival at 678 Morton Avenue on Saturday night, New Jersey State Police said in a statement. The force said it was looking into the incident. Police said the girl fell from the “Extreme” ride in Cumberland County. On Monday, a video was released showing Rice punching Janay Palmer, whom he has since married. Rice had been suspended by the NFL for two games, but after the video surfaced the Ravens cut him and the league suspended him indefinitely.
