Portland resident Christopher David was seen being beaten with a baton and pepper sprayed in the face in a video shared on Twitter by Zane Sparling, a reporter with The Portland Tribune, during protests at the weekend. The 53-year-old was dubbed “Captain Portland” after standing his ground, unflinchingly taking baton blows and only walking away after being sprayed in the eyes. He wrote on Twitter afterwards that he was left with a broken hand and would require surgery....

Evidently, no one on the three-man unit saw Los Angeles center DeMarcus Cousins shove Phoenix guards Cam Payne and Devin Booker after Deandre Ayton made the eventual game-winning dunk in a 104-103 Suns Game 2 victory. The Raptors completed a 4-2 series win in the NBA Finals courtesy of a 114-110 victory at Oracle Arena. Leonard became just the third player to win the Finals MVP with two different teams, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James, having also claimed the prize with the Spurs in 2014. After playing just nine games with the Spurs last season due to a quad injury before being traded to the Raptors in July 2018, Leonard reflected on a difficult period....
The former Spurs star suffered a serious quad injury in the 2017 playoffs, which affected him throughout the following season. However once San Antonio traded Leonard to the Raptors last offseason, they trusted him enough to let him rest periodically throughout the year to avoid reaggravating the injury. He believes his load management in 2018-19 helped Toronto reach the NBA Finals. “It was good. When it got bad we ended up taking four or five games off,” Leonard told ESPN Friday....
The 23-year-old Warriors forward, who is dealing with an injury in his chest area, told reporters he “should be able to play” in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Raptors. “They’re comfortable with me going out there as long as I can tolerate the pain,” Looney said, via the Mercury News. According to The Athletic, which cited unidentified sources, Boston is pursuing centers Kevon Looney and Enes Kanter in free agency. He would fit well in the Celtics’ starting lineup if Boston locks up Kemba Walker (who remains the team’s main priority) to go along with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward....
Every day seems to bring another rumor. First came the recent report that the Lakers aren’t front-runners for any elite players. On Thursday, ESPN reported LeBron James had talked with Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard and 76ers guard Jimmy Butler. Now comes this development: An Instagram account, “cuffsthelegend,” posted a photo of Kyrie Irving in a Lakers uniform. And James tagged the photo with a like. What does this mean?
